President Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Feb. 4, the prime minister’s office announced on Tuesday.

Netanyahu is set to be the first foreign leader to meet in person with Trump at the White House since he was inaugurated last week.

Trump previewed the visit on Monday aboard Air Force One while speaking to reporters, saying that he’ll be “speaking with Bibi Netanyahu in the not too distant future.”

Netanyahu’s visit comes as the United States urges Israel and Hamas to continue to uphold the agreed-upon cease-fire in Gaza, which has allowed for the return of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to the war-torn region.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Netanyahu last came to Washington over the summer when he addressed a joint session of Congress at the Capitol. The controversial speech, which resulted in several protests throughout Washington, saw several Democratic lawmakers skip out over the prime minister’s prolonged operations in the Middle East.

During that July visit, Trump hosted Netanyahu at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida.

Netanyahu also spoke with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Sunday, the prime minister’s office said.
